Bronchopleural Fistula After Pneumonectomy (PubMed)
Describes bronchopleural fistula (BPF) as an infrequent but life-threatening complication after lung resection. This retrospective study published in the January/March 2003 issue of the Ireland Journal of Medical Science concluded that a low incidence of BPF can be achieved with a safe, reproducible and inexpensive surgical technique (hand suture closure).
