Describes bronchopleural fistula (BPF) as an infrequent but life-threatening
complication after lung resection. This retrospective study published
in the January/March 2003 issue of the Ireland Journal of Medical
Science concluded that a low incidence of BPF can be achieved with
a safe, reproducible and inexpensive surgical technique (hand suture closure).
